We are excited to partner with BCAA in a combined effort of shared value that provides more British Columbians with preparedness support, education and access as it pertains to earthquakes and other natural disasters. The BC Earthquake Alliance’s vision is to ensure that British Columbians embody a culture of preparedness that reduces injury, loss of life and property damage from earthquakes and tsunamis.

Our combined efforts are already making a difference in our goal to reach more underserved individuals and communities.  We have started outreach with a specific focus on building relationships and understanding needs.  As a result, we have already begun a pilot project that expands access to translated materials through partnerships with not-for-profit organizations. These materials are delivered through a process that will help ensure that more participants who have language barriers will be aware of the seismic risk in BC, and how to be better prepared for an earthquake and tsunami, states Christine Buttkus, Executive Director of the BC Earthquake Alliance”.  In addition, we have been increasing our outreach, public events and educational presentations provincially to include underserved communities.
