The BCEA Board of Directors has recently held its 2023/24 strategic refresh. Three key priorities were established. They are:

1.  Strengthening Governance

2.  Expanding activities throughout the year.  This includes:
  • Sustaining the success of the ShakeOutBC earthquake drill and undertaking year round activities that include amplification of Tsunami Awareness Week
  • An Earthquake Preparedness tour that includes the Quake Cottage
  • The Quake Tales Project, where we curate real stories of survival from BC residents caught in major earthquakes around the world
  • Our virtual Community of Practice sessions, which are 45-60 minute sessions are designed to connect community groups/organizations that have a role in providing education and share experiences, resources, and questions in a safe space. It is also an opportunity to share, brainstorm, and hear about what other organizations are doing.
3.  The board is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion.  We are working with our partners to engage with and expand our reach to underserved communities with a view to strengthening the culture of earthquake and tsunami preparedness more broadly in British Columbia.
