Erin Stockill

Erin brings over ten years of experience in local government with a diverse portfolio including recreation programming, event planning and emergency management. Currently Erin holds the role of Emergency Program Officer for the District of Saanich, managing the emergency program and supporting almost 100 volunteers. Erin graduated from the University of Victoria in 2013 and has since completed her Certificate in Emergency Management from the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC), and all Fire Officer 1 and 2 courses through the JIBC.

Notable emergency management moments to date include holding a seat on the project management team that informed the development and implementation of the Capital Region Tsunami Portal, organizing countless ‘ShakeOut selfie’ contests for Saanich staff, filling the role of Reception Centre Manager in Abbotsford (Tradex) Group Lodging and Reception Centre during the 2021 floods, assisting in the coordination of an evacuation following a significant gas leak in Saanich in 2023 and supporting Saanich’s activation of a virtual reception centre to support wildfire evacuees across the province in 2023.

Erin also participates on a number of steering committees, advisory commissions and working groups to enhance emergency management and emergency preparedness across the region and the province. She volunteers on the BC Association of Emergency Managers Board of Directors and on the Local Government Management Association Foundations Learning Series Advisory Committee.
