Erin Stockill
Erin Stockill brings over a decade of progressive experience in local government, spanning recreation programming, event planning and emergency management. As the Emergency Program Officer for the District of Saanich, Erin leads the municipality’s emergency management initiatives and supports a dedicated team of 150 volunteers committed to community resilience. A proud University of Victoria graduate (2013), Erin has since earned her Certificate in Emergency Management from the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC) and recently completed her Fire Officer 3 certification through the JIBC. She shares her knowledge and experience as an instructor with both the JIBC and the University of Victoria, helping to develop the next generation of emergency management professionals.
Erin’s career highlights include serving on the project management team that developed the Capital Region Tsunami Portal, managing large-scale emergency responses such as the Abbotsford Reception Centre during the 2021 floods, coordinating an evacuation following a significant gas leak in Saanich (2023) and supporting the province-wide virtual reception centre activation for wildfire evacuees the same year. She’s also known for her creative approach to engagement, bringing energy and fun to preparedness through initiatives like Saanich’s annual “ShakeOut Selfie” campaign.
Beyond her role at Saanich, Erin contributes her leadership and expertise provincially as a Board Member with the BC Association of Emergency Managers (BCAEM) and as a member of the Local Government Management Association’s Foundations Learning Series Advisory Committee. She also participates on numerous regional steering committees and working groups that advance emergency preparedness and collaboration across British Columbia.
